Contraception Choices

NHS Health Checks For 40-70 Year Olds

Everyone is at risk of developing heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes or kidney disease. But these diseases can often be prevented, an NHS Health Check can help by assessing the risk and giving personalised advice on how to reduce it. Please ring the surgery to book an appointment to see the Health Care Assistant regarding this if you are not seen at the surgery in any chronic disease clinic.

These are usually undertaken every 5 years and patients will be contacted after they turn 40.

Minor Surgery

We are happy to offer appropriate minor surgical procedures.

Smoking Cessation

We constantly monitor patient’s smoking status and encourage smoking cessation initiatives. The practice policy is to promote smoking cessation at each appropriate opportunity. If you are a smoker and would like to quit, please ask at reception for further information. All our medical staff are happy to provide information or referrals to smoking cessation clinics or support networks. 

Chronic Disease Management Clinics (Long Term Condition Mangement)

For Asthma, Diabetes, Cardio/vascular, Hypertension, COPD, Nurse led clinics offering specific testing and advice for chronic conditions.

Family Planning Services

All of our doctors / ANPs are able offer contraceptive advice, treatment and monitoring. The practice nurses are able carry out routine pill checks and depo injections and coil removals

Dr Emison and Dr Mezas are able to offer implant and coil fitting / changes

Cervical Screening (Smear Test)

It is recommended that women aged 25–49 have a smear test every three years and women aged 50–64 every five years. Smear tests are carried out by our fully trained practice nurses.

Patients will be notified by letter when they are due their 1st / next check up, please then contact the surgery to make an appointment.

Children and Young People Under 14 Years

We would very much prefer to see children accompanied by their parents, except in exceptional circumstances.

Immunisation

Immunisation is encouraged for both adults and children. Please ask the receptionist for further details.

Child Health (Including Surveillance)

All the doctors are able to see babies and children for Child Health Surveillance in their surgeries.

Health visitors (based at the Health Centre on Sussex Street) attend and are also available for developmental checks and advice.

All childhood immunisations are offered by the practice and we encourage parents to ensure that their children are fully immunised, if you are unsure what is required please book an appointment with the practice nurse.
